It commonly shows up right there, usually paired with another rare people call Bloodgulp. The nice part isn't just that it's consistent, it's that it's farmable in a way PoE usually isn't. If you kill it by accident or botch the capture, tap the nearby checkpoint and the local packs reset fast. No awkward logouts, no instance juggling, just rinse and repeat until you get a clean attempt.

Two ways to "recruit" it

How you take Fleshpierce depends on what you're playing. If you're doing the beast companion angle, put Tame Beast on your bar and manage the fight so you can land the skill when it matters. When it works, you'll get a companion gem you can socket straight away, which feels great mid-campaign. If you're more of a traditional summoner, you'll want Bind Spectre instead. In that case, you kill Fleshpierce first, then target the corpse. Keep an eye on two things: your gem level and your Spirit reservation. If either's too low, the cast just fails and you'll be staring at the body wondering what went wrong.

How it plays now (and how to keep it alive)

People still mention the old, busted aura it used to have, but that's gone. What's left is still useful: it's quick, it's aggressive, and it gets to enemies before your squishier minions or your own character does. That alone can smooth out messy encounters where everything wants to dogpile you. As a spectre, it's worth grabbing minion life and some resist support so it doesn't evaporate when bosses start throwing big elemental hits. As a companion, I treat it like a disposable brawler—let it grab attention, then you do your real damage from safety.
